年糕(rice cake/New Year’s cake)

(The tradition of eating grapes at the strokes of midnight

is prevalent in countries such as Spain, Portugal, and Mexico.)。

(Europeans and North Americans eat cods or herrings

to celebrate the new year.)。

(the herring roe:a wish for lots of progeny)。

Toshikoshi Soba/New Year’s Eve soba noodles)

(Cakes and baked goods are also considered as

New Year’s lucky foods in Greece, Italy, and Mexico.)。

有些還夾藏著銅板或小裝飾物(a coin or a trinket),
