搭乘火車旅行既經濟又可沿途欣賞旖旎風光，讓很多遊客趨之若騖。然而，如何聽懂

火車站廣播（train announcements），確保行程順利呢？

通常乘客（passengers）會聽到類似以下的說法：

「現在停靠第一月台的是6點15分由AA開往BB的列車」

（The train standing at Platform 1 is the six fifteen service from AA to BB.）；

或「現在第二月台進站的是8點20分開往WW的XYZ鐵路公司列車」

（The train that is arriving at Platform 2 is the eight twenty XYZ

train service for WW.）。

另外，廣播內容包括中途停靠站名就像這樣：「下一班停靠在第三月台的是11點15分

開往KK站的列車，沿途停靠DD, EE, FF, GG, HH, II和JJ各站」

（The next train at Platform 3 is the eleven fifteen service to KK,

calling at DD, EE, FF, GG, HH, II, and JJ.）。

聽在耳裡，是否會好奇句子中用「calling」這個字？其實它的原形動詞就是「call」。

「call」除指打電話、呼叫等諸多用法外，也指車輛、船舶等交通工具的停靠。

當車速漸緩，即將靠站時，通常會聽到「下站為LL站」（Next stop LL Station）；

火車到站停靠則聽到「LL車站」（This is LL Station）。

若該班列車有頭等車廂/自助餐服務則聽到播報：

「First class/buffet is available on the train. 」，

而「sleeping car」則是指臥車。
